Options for your AUP Annual Fund Gift

NEW! Dr. Lloyd DeLamater and Marie DeLamater Presidential Scholarships
In honoring AUP's founder and first President, Dr. Lloyd DeLamater and his wife Marie, we are launching the Dr. Lloyd DeLamater and Marie DeLamater Presidential Scholars Program. Two students of AUP’s incoming 50th class will receive full tuition scholarships for their undergraduate studies along with support for their living expenses. Contributions to the 2011-2012 AUP Annual Fund will support these two scholars directly. The Dr. Lloyd and Marie DeLamater Presidential Scholars will be chosen via application, and on the basis of academic promise, leadership potential, and financial need, from among those entering undergraduate students who have chosen to study in one of the liberal arts fields at AUP. 

Our goal is ambitious: to provide the first fully funded AUP experience to our students. To achieve this milestone is also to strengthen AUP’s socio-economic diversity even as we celebrate our linguistic, cultural, ethnic and religious diversity. 

To do so, we must raise €104,000 to enable full support for these two scholars throughout their four-year course of study.  Should we exceed our goal, the remainder of the Annual Fund donations designated for these scholarships will support institutional financial aid, which currently represents 15% of AUP's annual operating budget and helps 40% of AUP’s student body afford an AUP education.

Where it’s needed most (general, unrestricted support)
Unrestricted gifts are for immediate, current use as determined by AUP’s Presidential Cabinet. Unrestricted funds are allocated to where the need for support is greatest. This may include support of AUP’s Campus in the 7th plan or any number of other resources needed to improve the student experience at AUP.

Coup de Pouce (study trips)
Coup de Pouce is a resource that provides a limited amount of financial aid to AUP degree-seeking students who are registered in classes with study trips and who are in financial need. The grants are funded by a combination of profits generated from vending machines on AUP’s campus, contributions made by the Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Affairs, and charitable donations to AUP. The SGA, the Director of Financial Aid, the Cultural Program Supervisor and the Director of Student Affairs form the committee that distributes Coup de Pouce grants.

Faculty Development Fund
The Faculty Development Fund provides faculty members with the means to expand their knowledge, hone their skills, regain and maintain a fresh perspective of and enliven their enthusiasm for their respective discipline, innovate, broaden peer recognition and infuse a new zest into their teaching. Some of the options for the use of the Faculty Development Fund include grants for research, conference fees and travel expenses, speaker fees and honorariums, equipment, publication of papers, creating instructional material and exchanges with other institutions, including international institutions. The award of Faculty Development Funds is based upon a competitive application process and is decided by the Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs.
