Born of a French father and American mother, French film actress and dancer Leslie Caron has appeared in 45 films including An American in Paris (1951), Lili (1953) and Gigi (1958) and been twice nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress.  During her career, Leslie has danced with Fred Astaire, Mikhail Baryshinikov, Gene Kelly and Rudolf Nureyev.  Leslie was discovered by Gene Kelly when he was searching for a co-star for the classic film An American in Paris, and she went on to become one of the top musical talents in the world.  In recent years, Leslie has been seen in Chocolat (2000) and Le Divorce (2003) and won her first Emmy award aged 75 for a moving portrayal in a 2006 episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.  Ms. Caron accepted an Honorary Degree from AUP in 2009.

Recognized by Forbes as “the quintessential entrepreneur” and “a father of innovation,”
Eugene Lang
pioneered international business partnerships and innovative technology transfer between, notably, France and the United States, over a distinguished career that spanned sixty years.

Mr. Lang served with distinction on various US Government commissions and represented the US as
a member of seven overseas economic and investment missions of the Commerce and State Departments.  He has received an "E" Award from President Kennedy, a "Point of Light" designation by President Bush, and the "Presidential Medal of Freedom" from President Clinton, the highest civilian honor awarded to an American.

Born of immigrant parents in 1919, Mr. Lang grew up in New York City during the Great Depression.   He is a 1938 graduate of Swarthmore College where he began as a scholarship student and remains to this day a trustee.  The leading American philanthropist in the field of education, Mr. Lang has fostered social responsibility and civic engagement in countless higher education institutions, founded the “I Have a Dream Foundation” (now  present in over 75 American cities) to mentor disadvantaged youth through high school and into college scholarships, established "Project Pericles" to promote preparation for responsible citizenship within liberal arts curricula, and endowed numerous internships, research projects, and programs in support of social engagement for students and faculty.
